Dear Parishioners of St Kevin and friends:
After the unfortunate incident involving Fr. Jesús Saldaña last November, where he was subjected to vicious and wrongful accusations that resulted in Father Saldaña being placed on administrative leave, this placed a great strain on Father Saldaña; he not only could not lead his parishioners, but he also had to relocate to another location pending the resolution of this matter.
WHAT HAS HAPPENED?
After Father Saldaña’s arrest, the outcry from the parish community was immediate, measured, loud, and visible. This included letters to the Archdiocese of Miami, social media posts, and public petitions supporting Father Saldaña and calling for fair treatment, addressed to both civil and religious authorities. More than 2,500 parishioners and friends of Father Saldaña electronically signed this petition. The St. Kevin community responded with Rosary prayers and masses requested by parishioners, with special intentions for Father Saldaña.
Since then, several of us have been approached by parishioners willing to support Fr. Saldaña’s cause through both physical and financial participation.
Encouraged by these comments, we formed Miami Catholics for Justice as a nonprofit organization to provide a formal structure to channel efforts, activities, and funds toward securing justice, fair treatment, and final vindication for Fr. Saldaña, and to create a legal defense fund to accomplish this purpose. We are all volunteers!
Twice, we requested a meeting with Auxiliary Bishop Enrique Delgado, appointed by Archbishop Wenski to oversee our parish's operations in the absence of Fr. Saldaña. The first, a verbal request left at the parish, was ignored. The second, in writing, was met with a brief letter stating that Fr. Saldaña was on administrative leave and residing in another parish, with no indication of willingness to meet with us. Unofficially, we heard comments dismissing our organization as a small group of malcontents. And we ask you, is there any parishioner of St. Kevin who is not a malcontent, seeing what has happened to Fr. Saldaña?

Tras el desafortunado incidente que involucró al Padre Jesús Saldaña el pasado mes de noviembre, en el que fue objeto de acusaciones maliciosas e infundadas que resultaron en una baja administrativa temporal, esta situación ocasionó una gran carga para el Padre Saldaña: no solo no puede guiar a sus feligreses, sino que también tuvo que trasladarse a otro lugar a la espera de la resolución de este asunto.
¿QUÉ HA SUCEDIDO?
Tras el arresto del Padre Saldaña, la reacción de la comunidad parroquial fue inmediata, medida, ruidosa y visible. Esto incluyó cartas a la Arquidiócesis de Miami, publicaciones en redes sociales y peticiones públicas y documentadas, apoyando y solicitando un trato justo para el Padre Saldaña, tanto a las autoridades civiles como a las religiosas. Más de 2.500 feligreses y amigos del Padre Saldaña firmaron electrónicamente esta petición. La comunidad de St. Kevin respondió con rezos del Rosario y misas pedidas por feligreses con intenciones especiales por el Padre Saldaña.
Desde entonces, varios de nosotros hemos sido abordados por feligreses que expresan su disposición de apoyar la causa del Padre Saldaña, tanto con su presencia como con contribuciones económicas
Animados por estos comentarios, formamos Miami Catholics for Justice como una organización sin fines de lucro para proporcionar una estructura formal que canalizara los esfuerzos, las actividades y los recursos financieros necesarios para obtener justicia, un trato justo y la reivindicación final del Padre Saldaña, y para crear un fondo de defensa legal con este propósito. ¡Todos nosotros somos voluntarios!
En dos ocasiones solicitamos una reunión con el obispo auxiliar Enrique Delgado, quien fue designado por el arzobispo Wenski para supervisar las operaciones de nuestra parroquia en ausencia del Padre Saldaña. La primera solicitud, verbal, dejada en la parroquia, fue ignorada. La segunda, por escrito, recibió como respuesta una breve carta en la que se indicaba que el padre Saldaña se encontraba de baja administrativa temporal y residía en otra parroquia, sin ninguna muestra de disposición a reunirse con nosotros. Extraoficialmente, escuchamos comentarios que desestimaban a nuestra organización como un pequeño grupo de descontentos. Y le preguntamos a usted: ¿Hay algún feligrés en la parroquia de St. Kevin que no esté descontento al ver lo que le ha sucedido al padre Saldaña?
